JETSblog :: Clement sticks with Jets

Not much was said about Anthony Clement when he "left" the Jets as an unrestricted free agent - fair enough, he resigned with the Jets 17 days after that. Clement has since explained that he knew he wasn't leaving, and that he stayed because he likes the Jets. He did say, however, that NYC was not his first CITY of choice, but his first team of choice nonetheless.

JETSblog :: Reciever ROI

General manager Mike Tannenbaum wants productivity and consistency from his players, and Jerricho Cotchery is that type of player. Tannenbaum announced that the Jets will be extending his contract. He's started every game and with 961 yards received, 82 catches, and six touchdowns he has earned his starting role. No doubt Cotchery will continue to be a key contributor.

New York Jets will keep Schottenheimer: the offensive coordinator officially withdrew his name from consideration for the Miami Dolphins' head coaching vacany. Eric Mangini, New York Jets Head Coach, released the following statement: "Brian's creative approach on offense was an integral part of our progress in the 2006 season, and I'm pleased he will remain with the Jets to build on that progress."

JETSblog :: When you’re a Jet!

Cedric Houston of the New York Jets was involved in a car accident last Friday. The running back was mildly injured but released from the hospital the same night as his wounds were not life-threatening. Houston was the passenger in the car and there is no scandal attached to the incident. Houston will be further evaluated by the team doctors before they will report on his status for th...

JETSblog :: When you’re a Jet you’re a Jet

Victor Green has signed with the New York Jets again so he retires as a Jet. He spent eight years with the Jets and was a great player all around. I think it is pretty cool that the Jets let him sign on. The Dallas Cowboys did it for Emmitt Smith after all.

JETSblog :: Join the Jets' Special Team!

Jets fans--Here's a chance for you to be part of the team--by joining the New York Jets in the fight against lupus. Lupus is a chronic disease that seems to turn the body's own immune system against itself, and it can attack anybody. Right now there is no cure. How can you help? Step one is easy--Come to the FREE Walk Kick-off Luncheon on March 30th at the Melville Marriott (1350 Old Walt Whitman Road, Melville NY). Besides lunch and info, you can have a chance to win an autog...

JETSblog :: Eenie, meenie, mynie, Chad.

The big question in this off-season is who will be the New York Jets quarterback this year on opening day. Will it be Chad Pennington or Brooks Bollinger? I am going to pick Chad Pennington. Who do you pick and why?

JETSblog :: Building and rebuilding

Seems like most of the news related to the New York Jets this season has been about buildings--as in the stadium, training facilties, etc. But we need to be just as interested in rebuilding. Because ending the season 4 and 12 is pretty depressing, even if it's the same place the Oakland Raiders and the Green Bay Packers--a couple of other teams we saw a lot of in all those Super Bowl nostalgia clips--ended up this season. We'll have to see what GM Mike Tannenbaum and Coach Eric Mangini can...

JETSblog :: Deep Threat

Before the deal was even made between the Redskins and the Jets, quarterback Chad Pennington gave up a $2 million dollar signing bonus to make room for the reunion of Laveranues Coles and the New York Jets. Pennington just wasn’t getting it done with Santana Moss in the line up, but with a healthy Coles look for the deep threat to come back to the New York Jets play book.

JETSblog :: Place Kicker

- from ESPN.com Not since Sebastian Janikowski came to Oakland in 2000 has a fan base been as excited to see a place-kicker drafted as the Jets' is about Mike Nugent's arrival. The Ohio State team captain has the leg to kick 50-yarders. And, the best part for Jets fans, he's not Doug Brien. You'll recall, painfully perhaps, that Brien missed two potential game-winning field goals in the AFC divis...

JETSblog :: New Acquirements

The Jets recently signed on unrestricted free agent guard/tackle Ethan Brooks and first-year quarterback Bill Whittemore. Brooks spent the last three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens where he jumped around on the offensive line. He was originally a seventh round draft pick by the Atlanta Falcons. Bill Whittemore started on the collegiate level with the University of Kansas. He was originally also drafted by the Falcons but waived soon after. Whitt...

JETSblog :: Vick King

The Jets recently announced the acquirement of free agent running back Vick King, who comes to the Jets from the ranks of the Miami Dolphins. He was originally signed to Tennessee but was released shortly after. King attended McNeese State. During his time with McNeese he put out 562 carries for 3,130 yards and 26 touchdowns. Hopefully, he’ll work just as well for us.
